A Holiday Evening with Oasis at Fennel: A Night of Gratitude, Flavor, and Connection
On Tuesday, December 9, Oasis welcomed Marylen Mann Leadership Circle donors to a warm and festive evening at Fennel Cooking Studio. The gathering served as a heartfelt thank-you to those whose generosity fuels Oasis’ mission of supporting older adults through education, wellness, and meaningful engagement.
The night began with a cheerful welcome from Oasis President Paul Weiss, who offered selections from his personal wine collection as guests arrived and connected. The Oasis team shared updates on exciting initiatives within Health & Nutrition programs, including Healthy Habits, a 10-session workshop series that focuses on building healthier lifestyles through practical education on nutrition, physical activity, and overall well-being. Healthy Habits participant Stella Ashcraft shared her personal experience with the audience, stating that she now feels more confident reading nutrition labels, cooking at home, and grocery shopping for healthy foods on a budget.
From there, the atmosphere shifted into a hands-on culinary celebration. Fennel’s bright, open studio invited guests to explore interactive food stations, designed to inspire creativity and conversation. A gourmet salt-blending station allowed participants to mix herbs, spices, and seasonal ingredients into a custom take-home seasoning. At another station, guests assembled their own custom crostini, including toppings such as cheeses, fruits, and nuts.
Throughout the evening, beautifully prepared appetizers highlighted winter flavors and even showcased the very salt blends being made during the event—a memorable way to taste the results of each creation in real time. Laughter, conversation, and shared stories filled the studio, reminding everyone why community is at the heart of Oasis’ mission.
Before saying goodnight, each guest received a canvas tote filled with artisanal treats and recipes, a token of appreciation for the ongoing support that sustains Oasis programs year-round.
A Holiday Evening with Oasis at Fennel was more than a seasonal celebration—it was a chance to reflect on the impact made together, forge new connections, and look ahead with optimism. As we enter a new year, Oasis remains grateful for the individuals who champion our mission and help shape healthier, more connected lives for older adults across the region.
