Tutoring opportunities are available across St. Louis, Mid-Missouri, Northeast Missouri, and Illinois.

Give just a little time each week and make a lifelong difference for a child in your community.

Help a Child Love Learning

Oasis Intergenerational Tutoring pairs volunteers with children in grades K–3 to work one-on-one each week as their tutors, mentors, and friends. With your guidance and encouragement, children gain confidence, improve reading skills, and develop a more positive connection to school and learning.

You can choose from one of our participating school districts across Missouri and Illinois. Once matched, you’ll work with the same child each week throughout the school year, giving you the chance to build a consistent, trusting relationship that helps them grow. All tutors receive training and ongoing support—no teaching experience is required.

You may tutor one child or several, depending on your availability. Additional volunteer opportunities that support the tutoring program are also available, offering meaningful ways to contribute beyond the classroom.

Tutor Stories: Impact in Action

My student has been struggling with health problems this year, having under 50% attendance this fall. Meeting with an Oasis tutor has really positively impacted his attendance, which has impacted his success in all areas. He really looks forward to that one-on-one time each Wednesday.

I have a lot of respect for the challenges that today’s teachers deal with. If the hour or so each week we spend with these kids can help them learn, it’s well worth our time.

I really enjoy tutoring the K-3 readers I have & get a real sense of satisfaction that I may be helping them in some small way.
I enjoy tutoring very much and appreciate the opportunity Oasis has given me to feel needed.
I’ve enjoyed my participation in the Oasis tutoring program, and the extensive workshops, training, sharing and opportunities that are available.

As an Oasis Tutor I love connecting with my students. Oasis gives retirees like me a reason to leave the house, make positive social connections, and feel valued, while providing extra support and encouragement to young students who need all the extra attention they can get.
