Lifelong Learning Instructors
We’re looking for knowledgeable, enthusiastic instructors to teach classes in areas such as Arts and Humanities, History, and Science. Your class will be promoted online and featured in the Oasis catalog, reaching lifelong learners across the community. You’ll be able to teach in the way that fits your style—whether it’s a traditional classroom setting or online.
Technology Instructors
Help older adults gain skills and confidence with technology—whether it’s navigating a smartphone, staying connected with friends and family, or exploring the internet safely.
Instructors must have a basic knowledge of computers, tablets, and smartphones. Materials are provided and designed for adult learners.
Health & Fitness Volunteers
Share your passion for healthy living!
- Lead the way as a Trail Blazer by guiding walks or bike tours.
- Inspire strength and fitness as an Exercise Instructor, using your ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM, or other certification.
- Promote well-being as a Health Facilitator, leading small groups in meaningful discussions.
Tutors & Mentors
Make a lasting difference in the life of a young person. As an Oasis Intergenerational Tutor, you’ll work one-on-one with K–3 students in reading or K–2 students in math each week. No teaching experience is required—training is provided, and flexible options are available across 25+ partner schools.
You can also support teens in foster care as an Oasis Grand Champion. With just a willingness to show up and connect, you’ll enrich their lives—and your own. One-day training sessions are offered monthly.
Support & Outreach Volunteers
Play an important role in helping Oasis thrive by supporting our programs, participants, and community.
- Customer Service Volunteer – Create a welcoming environment in our offices and assist staff, programs, and participants.
- Class Coordinator – Provide on-site support for classes, helping with setup, organization, and creating a positive learning atmosphere.
- Marketing Ambassador – Use your creativity as a writer or photographer to help promote Oasis programs.
Oasis' Give 5 Program
Give 5 is a free, community-based program that connects retirees and soon-to-be retirees with meaningful volunteer opportunities that match their skills and passions. Over five program days, participants travel by shuttle to visit local nonprofit organizations and public service agencies, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at the vital work they do.
At the end of the program, participants are encouraged to commit just five hours a month to the cause(s) that inspire them most. To register for Give 5, please call (314) 862-4859.

Topics include everyday skills like using iPads and iPhones, Facebook, Wi-Fi, and online privacy.
