
Hedva Barenholtz Levy PharmD
Hedva Barenholtz Levy is the director of HbL PharmaConsulting, an independent senior-care pharmacy practice in St. Louis, MO, which she founded in 1996. She is a certified geriatric pharmacist and pharmacotherapy specialist who focuses on promoting the safe and effective use of medications among community-dwelling older adults. She remains passionate about helping patients and consumers be more mindful of safe medication use.
In addition to providing one-on-one consultations, Dr. Levy is a speaker at the local, regional, and national level to older adults, caregivers, and healthcare and nonhealthcare professionals, advocating for more judicious medication use among older adults. She is the author of Maybe It’s Your Medications: How to Avoid Unnecessary Drug Therapy and Adverse Drug Reactions, published by Skyhorse Publishing in 2023. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical and pharmacy journals and twice has co-authored chapters in textbooks. Dr. Levy is an adjunct instructor at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, St. Louis College of Pharmacy and a past president of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, the professional organization representing senior care pharmacists.

My classes address different aspects of safe medication use, exploring basic principles or the latest trends and hot topics. Classes are designed to inform and empower attendees to be more engaged and prepared to have valuable conversations with their healthcare team about prescription and non-prescription medications and non-drug options for healthy aging.
