Communication changes are on the way for Oasis email marketing capabilities in 2019.

With a new, user-friendly tool designed to provide more flexibility and speed, the national office and centers across the country will be poised to maximize email communications with participants for increased impact.

Businesses and organizations will no longer be able to assume that the people on their email lists want to receive emails. Supporters will have to actively “opt-in.” The rule is already in place in Europe, with the recent passage of the General Data Protection Regulation (GRDR), and experts expect similar regulations to in force in the United States before too long. It’s already started in California. Effective January 1, 2020, a new consumer privacy law that requires companies to tell residents of that state what information is being collected and how it is being used.

Oasis is preparing to stay ahead of regulations that are to come by asking the participants to opt-in now.

“We know that keeping a robust database intact is important for our centers across the network,” says Paul Weiss, president of Oasis Institute. “We’re committed to doing what we can to make communication efforts as seamless as possible.”

The opt-in process must be complete before the new email marketing tool is adopted and ready for use. With February 2019 as the target month for full implementation, the Oasis technology and communications teams at the Institute are planning to build the opt-in process into the roll-out and training plans for new system.

Details coming soon. Remember to “opt-in” so that you don’t miss out on important information and next steps!
