TECH FACILITATOR PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES

PAID OPPORTUNITIES: Oasis will train you to become an Technology Facilitator to teach basic tech skills to other older adults and learn about online tools for managing doctor appointments, prescriptions, health records and more. Pay is $15/hour and includes training and prep time.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Facilitate Zoom sessions of live tech classes.

What kind of tech skills do I need to be good at this? Basic to intermediate tech skills are fine for these projects.

Is there a minimum amount of hours they need to teach? Each certified facilitator is required to teach one full workshop per program per year to remain certified.

What is the maximum they can work? (to make the most money) They can teach as much as is available for them and would fit in their schedule.

HEALTH FACILITATOR PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES

Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: Empowers older adults living with chronic conditions to discover strategies to improve their quality of life while managing the symptoms of chronic conditions such as heart disease, arthritis, asthma, diabetes, etc.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: Once per week for 6 consecutive weeks, 2.5 hours per session, facilitated by two leaders.

FIDELITY SYTLE: Very high. A detailed manual will be followed very closely (evidence-based).

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: Across the entire Metro area.

TRAINING: Virtual, Training is 7 weeks, 13, 2.5-hour sessions HOURLY RATE: $15/hour, includes training and prep time.

Better Choices, Better Health-Diabetes

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: Living with diabetes can present many challenges, such as knowing how and when to eat, living your life so you can avoid complications, and getting the support you want from family and friends.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: Once per week for 6 consecutive weeks, 2.5 hours per session, facilitated by two leaders.

FIDELITY SYTLE: Very high. A detailed manual will be followed very closely (evidence-based).

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: Across the entire Metro area.

TRAINING: Virtual, Training is 1, 4-hour session.

HOURLY RATE: $15/hour, includes training and prep time.

Matter of Balance

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: Curriculum designed to address the fear of falling, which is a risk factor for falls. Participants being range of motion movement to increase activity levels and discuss risk factors that will help keep them on their feet.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: Once per week for 8 consecutive weeks, 2 hours per session OR twice per week for 4 weeks, facilitated by two leaders. FIDELITY SYTLE: Very high, a detailed manual will be followed very closely (evidence-based).

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: Across the entire Metro area.

TRAINING: In-person training is 2, 5-hour sessions.

HOURLY RATE: $15/hour, includes training and prep time.

ExerStart

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: Encouraging older adults to be active so they can do the things they want and need to do. ExerStart is a low-intensity exercise class for people who are looking to add more activity into their lives. Exercises are done with resistance bands, while standing or sitting. PROGRAM DELIVERY: Twice per week for 10 weeks, 45 minute classes, led by one lay leader.

FIDELITY SYTLE: Medium. A detailed manual will be provided, but some flexibility is allowed (research informed).

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: North City, North County, East St. Louis.

TRAINING: In-person training is 1, 7-hour session.

HOURLY RATE: $15/hour, includes training and prep time.

Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: Tai Chi, an ancient Chinese tradition, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. Learn Sun Style Tai Chi utilizing a series of slow, focused movements and deep breathing to relieve pain, reduce stress and decrease fall risk while improving balance, muscular strength, coordination, confidence and mood.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: Twice per week for 8 consecutive weeks, 1 hour classes, led by one person.

FIDELITY SYTLE: Very high. Detailed materials will be followed very closely (evidence-based).

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: Across the entire Metro area.

TRAINING: In-person training is 2, 8-hour sessions.

HOURLY RATE: $22.50/hour, includes training and prep time.

Walk with Ease

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: Walk With Ease is a walking program that can help reduce pain and improve overall health. Each walk begins with a discussion related to exercise followed by stretching and strengthening, a walk and a cool down.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: Three times per week for 6 consecutive weeks, one-hour classes, led by one Facilitator.

FIDELITY SYTLE: Very high. Detailed materials will be followed very closely (evidence-based).

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: Across the entire Metro area.

TRAINING: Online, about 3 hours, self-paced, on demand, CPR required.

HOURLY RATE: $20/hour, includes training and prep time.

Aging Mastery Program (AMP)

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: Aging Mastery Program is a fun and engaging education and behavior change program for aging well. AMP covers 10 core topics related to healthy aging. It’s a mix of didactic and interactive learning with emphasis on peer-to-peer interaction.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: Once per week for 10 consecutive weeks, 2 hours per session, facilitated by two leaders.

FIDELITY SYTLE: Very high. Detailed materials will be followed very closely (evidence-based).

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: Across the entire Metro area TRAINING: Training is online or in-person, about 3-4 hours HOURLY RATE: $15/hour, includes training and prep time.

Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: Encourages participants to discover simple, safe, and effective tools to create and maintain wellness. Participants create their own plan to stay on track with life and wellness goals. Participants gain support through peer-to-peer interaction.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: Once per week for 6 consecutive weeks, 2 hours per sessions, led by two facilitators.

FIDELITY SYTLE: Very high. Detailed materials will be followed very closely (evidence-based).

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: Across the entire Metro area TRAINING: Training is 40 hours over a week, in person HOURLY RATE: $15/hour, includes training and prep time.

Virtual Healthy Habits

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: VHH addresses basic nutrition topics, but helps participants put the principles into practice. This interactive program includes a social session and a meal kit delivered to participants’ homes each week.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: Twice per week for 5 consecutive weeks, 2 hour classes, led by one facilitator.

FIDELITY SYTLE: Very high. Detailed materials will be followed very closely (striving to become evidence-based).

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: ALL VIRTUAL (for now).

TRAINING: Hybrid, both self-paced and virtual group format.

HOURLY RATE: $15/hour, includes training and prep time.

Over the Counter and on the Web

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: This workshops addresses safe over-the- counter and medication safety, paired with some introductory technology literacy that will help make safe medication choices with credible resources.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: Once per week for 6 consecutive weeks, 2 hour classes, led by two people PLUS a technology guest expert. FIDELITY SYTLE: Medium, a detailed materials will be provided, we are open to feedback and suggestions.

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: North City, North County, East St. Louis TRAINING: Training is virtual, two 5-hour Zoom sessions in early March HOURLY RATE: $15/hour, includes training and prep time.

Better Breathing- Asthma Management

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: Asthma has always been thought about as a childhood disease, but many people never ‘grow out of it’. Environmental factors make an impact on asthma in older adults- learn how to better manage your air quality to breathe better.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: Once per week for 7 consecutive weeks, with a few sessions per cohort over the following months. 1.5 hour classes, led by two facilitators.

FIDELITY SYTLE: Medium. Detailed materials will be provided, we are open to feedback and suggestions.

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: North City, North County, East St. Louis

TRAINING: Training is virtual, two 5-hour Zoom sessions in early March.

HOURLY RATE: $15/hour, includes training and prep time.

Stroke Survivorship

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: After a stroke and once you’re at home, there may be many adjustments you need to make. This workshop provides you with all the information, tips and tricks you may find you need management the “new normal”. Meant for stroke survivors and their care partners.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: Twice per week for 12 consecutive weeks. 2 hour classes, led by two people.

FIDELITY SYTLE: High. Detailed materials will be provided, we are open to feedback and suggestions.

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: Across the entire Metro area.

TRAINING: Training is (probably) in-person, 2 five-hour sessions.

HOURLY RATE: $15/hour, includes training and prep time.

PEARLS (Program to Encourage Active, Rewarding Lives)

WHAT DOES IT ADDRESS: PEARLS educates older adults about what depression is (and is not) and helps them develop the skills they need for self-sufficiency and more active lives.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: 6-8 one-on-one sessions over 4-5 months in a community setting.

FIDELITY SYTLE: Medium. There are program guidelines and training with room to adjust as you see fit.

LOCATIONS FOR PROGRAMS: Rural Illinois counties (driving included)

TRAINING: Training is about 10 hours, online, self-paced and on demand.

HOURLY RATE: $15/hour, includes training and prep time.
